Jordan Sr. William Carson “Bill” Jordan
Sr. passed away on Monday the 7th day of June at
The
Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. He was preceded in death by
his parents James Herman Jor- dan and Julia Lambert Jordan Brank, as well as his son, Wil- liam Arthur Jordan, daughter, Linda Jordan Brunner, sisters Mary Gann, Helen Rice, Bessie Brank, and a grandson. Bill was born in Jackson
County and is a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee In- dians. He grew up in Jackson County and the Asheville area. He was formerly married to Elizabeth Allman Jordan. He was an Army Veteran and
served in the European theater during World War
II. He was
captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was a Prisoner of War
in Germany. He had
also worked at the Naval Ship- yard in Newport News, VA be- fore going to war. He was a member of Brittains
Cove Presbyterian Church in Weaverville. He is survived by his wife
Sandy Jordan, a daughter Wilma Waldrup of Democrat, sons, James E Jordan of Weav-
erville and William C Jordan Jr. of NC, a sister, Lola Coe, as well as 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, and lots of nieces and neph- ews. Family night will be Wednes-
day from 6-8 PM at West Fu- neral Home in Weaverville, NC. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 PM in West Chapel. He will be buried at Black-
stock Cemetery in north Bun- combe County, where he will have a military service pro- vided by the Cherokee Honor Guard.

Joseph Arnold Hill Weaverville - Joseph Arnold
Hill, 70, passed away on Tues- day, June 1, 2010. He was the son of the late
Cecil Hill Sr. and Nannie Wright Hill. He is survived by his sis-
ter, Rachel Buckner; brothers, Robert, Cecil, Chester, Dewey, and J.C. Hill. A memorial service will be
grandchildren; Jennifer, Ron- nie, Rosie, Josh, Tara and Luke Chandler, Jessica and Alena Sharpe, Andy and John Burleson, and six great grand- children. The funeral service will be
held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2010 in Robbie Capps Memori- al Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill. Revs Bob- by Sprinkle and Jerry Wheeler will officiate.
