Several Weaverville gymnasts are showing great strides. Six members of Hendersonville’s
Team Olympia reside in Weaver- ville. All of them recently competed at the 2010 N.C. State Gymnastics Championships in March in various parts of the state. Based on the results at the meet,
several of these young ladies quali- fied for and competed at the Region 8 Championship meets which were
held in various parts of the south- east in April. Te regional meets brought together the best gymnasts from eight southern states. At each meet the gymnasts are
judged individually on each appara- tus: Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam, and Floor and their individual scores are totaled for an All-Around score. Te three highest scores for each
apparatus also contribute to a team score. Te Weaverville gymnasts are
Olivia Maita, Sophia Maita, Tay- lor Coe, Olivia McDaniel, Bradley Sprinkle and Syna McDowell. Team Olympia trains at the WNC
