Mary Lambert talks trash for her senior project. North Buncombe High School

senior Mary Lambert completed a project Friday (April 23) that eval- uated consumerism and trash. Fifty students continuously car-

ried a large bag around for a week and every bit of trash, except food scraps, was collected and placed inside. Tere was a separate bag for recycling.

Lambert’s study, entitled “Stay

Classy, Not Trashy,” looked at trash and its cyclic path from pro- duction to the landfill, incinera- tion, or recycling, as well as learn- ing about as its combined negative effects to so many aspects of the environment.

Tis special to the Tribune.
