The seventh grade class at the school celebrated the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by inviting parents and family members to see their collaborative co-curricular student projects.

Asheville and the Zebulon Vance Birthplace State Historic Site in Weaverville are looking for artists of the area to exhibit and sell art work this summer as part of the Department of Cultural Resources 2nd Saturdays: History, Heritage, Arts & Fun events scheduled on June 12, July 10 and Aug. 14. Te 2nd Saturdays combine the
unique power of the arts and heri- tage with lots of hands on fun each second Saturday during the peak summertime vacation months of June, July and August. Both the Tomas Wolfe Memo-
rial and Vance Birthplace will of- fer three unique programs, each showcasing artists and heritage crafters from across Western North Carolina. A sampling of artists will include painters, potters, weavers, bookbinders, jewelry makers, and photographers. Farmers of value-added products
such as honey, soy candles, cheeses, or herbs are also welcome. Tere is no cost to participate
although artists and vendors are responsible for their own display materials, including tents and ta- bles. Artists and vendors retain 100 percent of their sales at most sites.
