PLYMOUTH - Eva Speare’s book, “Twenty Decades in Plymouth, New Hampshire’’ describes the opening of what was then known as “The New Plymouth Theatre’’ in the late 1920s. “In the last year of this decade
a Plymouth Theatre was erect- ed on South Main Street by a company from Lancaster with Mr. Sherburn Graves as the manager. The appointments are modern with a wide screen, air conditioning and comfort- able seating. “The program of films was up-to-date by the finest actors, filling the theatre with patrons
from miles around. Special Sat- urday afternoon films for chil- dren were of real educational value. Mr. Graves cooperated with organizations by securing films to produce funds by the sale of tickets for charitable or community benefit. “Until television in homes became popular, the Plymouth
