Any employee reporting symptoms of HAVS should be referred to a physician
might require you to re-assess the risks. For example, new jobs and new equipment might increase your employees’ exposure. Your risk assessment should be a ‘living document’, consulted and updated regularly.
Step 4: When vibration is considered a risk in your workplace, or where exposure is above the exposure action value, you must put in place a HAVS surveillance programme. An adequate programme will require the services of a qualified physician. However, it is sufficient for the purpose of initial and annual assessments for each employee to complete a questionnaire (see reference below). Any employee reporting symptoms of HAVS would then be referred to the physician. These are the basics for adhering to the Control of Vibration at Work
