Even though it is very impor- tant, to focus on what goes in our bodies, it is much
more important to focus on what is going on within our minds and hearts.
Breathe. Just like prayer, it costs nothing. Conscious breathing will abso- lutely supplement your life in ways you could never imagine. The first step to notice during stressful situations, where is your breath? Are you breathing at all? I know that sounds funny, of course you are breathing, but under great stress people have a tendency to hold their breath or to breathe from a shallow place. Many years ago, I quit smoking using the alternate breathing technique when stresses would arise. I felt kind of funny in front of someone when trying to breathe through alternative nostrils. Yet, when I watch smokers, some of them look funny sucking on that cigarette. Nothing against smokers, it is a hard habit to break. Sup- plementing breathing for smoking really works when you are really ready to quit. Energy creates energy, so move your
body. Again something free. Take a walk in your neighborhood or find a park. Moving your body feeds your muscles, your heart, and your overall health. If your energy is low, supplement it with some form of movement. Put on some good old rock and roll and dance like no one is watching. It will lift your spirit or it might help you to break down for a good cry which, again, releases trapped energy. The wisdom teachers through years
of practice have found the simple ap- proaches and answers to supplement what might be missing. Maybe now more scientists will study the oldest wisdom teachings and traditions - and call them new.
