VEGETARIAN MYTH

TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE

In the sea of almost endless dietary gimmicks, I can

think of nothing more damaging to the human body than abstinence from animal nutrients. Over the years working in the field of exercise and nutrition I have seen many different dietary ideologies come through my door; the practicing subculture of vegan and veg- etarianism is by far the most misled and misinformed people who are seemingly hell-bent on following an ideology that is no more based off of science fact than its profession of spirituality and ecology. For years I have understood well the nutritional

consequences that this dietary lifestyle leaves on its practitioners (degenerative diseases, neurosis, psy- chosis, physical deterioration, cancer, etc). But I never realized what else is destroyed—the true cost, to not just the person but to the plants, the animals, the water, the land...to everything. The cost is everything...a total planetary bankruptcy.

The Vegetarian Myth

The Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith is a book to eclipse

the naive thinking of our society and shove the hard truth in our faces. We are, as a society, completely blind to truly understanding the meaning of sustainability, of proper nutrition, of saving our planet. In society today we are so focused on just trying to maintain our own frantic lives which prevents us from understanding the total loss of our ecosystem; even when it is happening right in front of our eyes day in and day out. How could we understand that buying an apple from halfway across the country or across the world is in direct cohe- sion with the conglomerates that are ripping apart our ecosystem, along with the countless lives of animals and humans in the path to their goal of a worldwide monetary monopoly.

The World is a Stage

To support this theater, the lies must run deep to keep

the myth and the followers subordinate. We humans are designed to eat meat. In fact, the very evolution of humanism is in no small part due to our consumption of animal fat and proteins over hundreds of thousands of years. As Lierre explains, the complexity of our digestive systems shrank in favor of our heightened neurological development. We literally gained our higher learning ability because of the dense nutrient capacity that animal fats and proteins provide us. Do not take my word for it, just study human anatomy and anthropology; you will see that it is no coincidence that our brains and nervous system are composed mostly of saturated fats and cholesterol.

Nutritional Dysfunctions Galore

These dysfunctions are exactly what are seen star-

ing back in the mirror of the vegan/vegetarian. Many people proclaim that this dietary lifestyle is the pana- cea to all their ailments two months in. Of course, after giving your body a break from processed, poisonous
