JUNE IN BLOOM
I’ll begin by repeating the old adage, “Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers.” Summertime is here
once more and sometimes it seems like if you blink, it’s autumn. If I can offer one piece of advice…make sure you enjoy the luxury of warmer weather and a few lazy days in the sun. The Rage Monthly is zooming through June with a realization that our magazine is going into its fourth year and celebrating our three-year an- niversary. We are proud of several accomplishments as we blow out the anniversary candles on three years. The Rage Monthly is now audited for our circulation. This means we can verify our circulation every month for our advertisers and readers. The publishing business is a gamble. As we continue to rapidly grow, we just want to lay our cards on the table…no bluffing necessary. You, the reader might have noticed that The Rage Monthly has stepped it up a notch in going full glossy. This upgrade is so important and it’s one that we feel gives the magazine the look our hard work and loyal readers deserve. Our June issue is in full bloom with a variety of entertainment. Sarah McLachlan returns to the limelight
with her new CD entitled Laws of Illusion. She is also bringing back her Lilith Tour this summer. After a recent divorce, she’s put her philosophy of emotional rescue into these new songs. But, we’ll let her explain on page 34. An icon of television and a woman who was born to bring laughter to the public is none other than Vicki Lawrence. This brilliant comedienne is currently touring with her two-woman show Vicki Lawrence and Mama. She shares memories of her amazing career, talks about this new show and shares a few words of wisdom from Mama in our interview on page 54. The Rage Monthly also took the opportunity to catch up with Gale Harold. Harold is receiving an award for his contribution to LGBT Media at The Center Orange County 2010 Gala on June 5. Since his long run on Queer as Folk, the actor has starred in notable theatre productions and continues to exude his natural charm on television. Learn more about the actor’s life with Gale Harold on page 48. As I mentioned, time comes and goes so quickly. It’s been over three years since the passing of Anna Nicole Smith. The father of her daughter, Dannielynn is Larry Birkhead. He’s learning to let go, help charity and his daughter with an upcoming Julien’s Auction on June 26 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. It was a great privilege to speak with Larry in this rare interview and remember Anna while looking into the future of Dannielynn on page 52. Last but not least is the sensational singer Andy Bell. His sophomore solo release called Non-Stop is out this month and Bell shares a few thoughts on being “out,” his musical partnership with Vince Clarke and his idea of a dream recording session. His passion for music is really non-stop; find out more on page 38. Pride season is officially in full swing. The Rage Monthly wants to give a shout-out to all those celebrating
L.A. Pride on the weekend of June 11-13. May the festivities be memorable and happy ones as we move forward for equal rights and acceptance across the globe. Now...go play in the sunshine!
