Where To Eat:
Where to begin. There are so many fabulous restaurants in Palm Springs and the surrounding area. You
would have to visit longer than a few days to wine and dine out…that is a definite. However, an excellent setting and a tasty lunch can be found at Azul’s Tapas Lounge (
azultapaslounge.com). I also guarantee that a fabulous dinner is to be had at Wang’s in the Desert (424 Indian Canyon Road—wangsinthedesert. com). Plus, their Friday happy hour is off the hook and one of the most popular in the desert. This is just skimming the surface of the many dining options in Palm Springs. There is a wide array of culinary experi- ences to enjoy.
What To Do:
In stating the obvious it’s apparent that sun, drink, dip in the pool…sun, drink, dip in the pool is
expected for the typical male relaxing poolside in Palm Springs. But there were a couple of excursions surprising even to the most frequent visitor to this desert city. As I mentioned one of my friends is an architect. He had heard from business associates about a gentleman named Robert Imber of PS Modern Tours (760.318.6118). So five of us booked a tour…Darren was still working on his harem at Mirage… I must say Imber is a sheer genius and a delight to listen to and learn about the amazing amount of archi- tectural history in Palm Springs. Whether it is Elizabeth Taylor’s residence during the time of her marriage to Mike Todd or the secret house of Howard Hughes to Elvis’s honeymoon house when he first married Priscilla, countless stories were told with wit and knowledge from our masterful tour guide Robert Imber. The amount of exceptional architects who came to Palm Springs to create innovative and one-of-a-kind housing is something I’ll let Robert fill you in on. All I can say is that he is always busy doing these tours so make a reservation well in advance. PS Modern Tours is not to be missed and gives a greater appreciation to just how special Palm Springs is as a worldwide place to visit. Another tour to take advantage of is Indian Canyons Trails on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation.
Taking a tour of Palm Canyons, it’s fascinating to discover the rich history and natural beauty of the region. The canyons are a perfect way to relax and enjoy the indigenous flora and fauna while at the same time, learning more about the history of Agua Caliente Cahuilla Indians (
Indian-canyons.com).
