INDULGENCES mixology by brad hart
The Rage Monthly: So with a name like Jersey, is it correct to assume that’s where you are from originally?
Jersey: Yes. I was born and raised in North Jersey. It seems they’re not very creative with a nickname out here.
Rage: What brought you to San Diego?
J: An unassuming visit to see a friend 12 years ago was my introduction to never having to shovel snow on another driveway or scrape another windshield.
Rage: How long have you been bartending at Inn at the Park?
J: Almost seven years—it sure has gone by fast.
Rage: What nights of the week can we find you there?
J: Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. and there is a happy hour all day and on Monday and Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to closing.
Rage: What would you say you enjoy most about working at Inn at the Park?
J: Definitely the comfortable, familiar-feeling atmo- sphere. I love the personal connection with new guests and frequent favorites.
Rage: Many people know about the incredible Friday Night Happy Hours at the Top of the Park Penthouse. What are some of the other popular weekly events going on?
J: At the Inn at the Park restaurant/piano bar, we have Happy Hour every day until 7:00 p.m., with live piano bar entertainment Tuesday through Sunday nights. Mon- day nights are like an extension of the weekend—you choose the music, we entertain each other and always have a good time!
Rage: Is there a specialty cocktail that you have come up with that people should know about next time they order from you?
J: “Jersey Juice” is my signature cocktail. Although it has a fruity, tropical flavor, it’s definitely a “creeper.”
Rage: During your free time, what are some of the things you enjoy most?
J: I love being outside in the sun and spending time with my son Jayson, close friends and my littlest companion, Miss Sassy.
Rage: What’s one thing people would be surprised to find out about you?
J: If I tell you, then it’s no longer a surprise, silly. Come spend some time with me at the bar—you just might find out!
Rage: Finally, for those who haven’t been to Inn at the Park, what would you say they have been missing out on?
J: Every visit is unique. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is always inviting. Each of the bartenders, servers and entertainers has a different personality and style, so there’s something for everyone. It definitely qualifies as an entry on one’s “Favorite Things To Do” list.
