INDULGENCES outrageous by daisy torres “On the verge of something wonderful” is my new mantra. I’ve always felt that great

things await us around every corner in life. I have recently been reminded of this fact by a new song. Former Savage Garden front man, Darren Hayes’ new song “On the Verge of Something Wonderful” has been in heavy rotation on my playlist lately, and it has made me decide to open my eyes to all the wonderful things in the world around me just waiting for someone to appreciate them. I know what you’re thinking and you’re wrong... my newfound positive attitude has absolutely no pharmaceutical basis. I’m just happy. April was certainly an interesting month. Easter Sunday started out perfectly until the

earth decided to shake, shake, shake its booty. It was an interesting experience to be on the top floor of a high rise and have it suddenly start shaking me like a Polaroid picture. Fortunately, I like my Easter cocktails shaken not stirred. Also in April, I celebrated Laur’s birthday at Eye Candy. Numbers was hopping thanks to

my favorite San Diego DJ Marcel. This event lives up to its name with some hot go-go boys too. I can’t wait for Eye candy to return to Numbers May 8, for another night of lighting effects and yummy boys. On April 14, The Rage Monthly hosted a pre-show mixer for Sweeney Todd at the Cygnet

theater to launch their “Out at the Cygnet” series. We enjoyed some Bloody Marys, in keep- ing with the dark theme of the demon barber, as well as some delicious meat pies and fabulous pastries courtesy of San Diego Desserts. After the mixer I had just enough time to make an appearance at Mo’s anniversary party.

Everyone dressed in pink and were all eager to celebrate one of our favorite spots. My per- sonal thanks go out to Chris Shaw, Matt Ramon and the staff for giving San Diego a fun place to be gay and have a blast. That day was pretty hectic. Immediately after Mo’s, I had to run over to Bacchus House

to prep for my regular Wednesday night show. It also happened to be the night we were celebrating the birthday of Bacchus diva Claudia Christina’s birthday. She refused to share how old she is, but it doesn’t matter. She looks fabulous! Special guest performer Paola showed us how they do it “south of the border” in Ensenada and as always, the talented Jenny Diamonds dazzled the crowd with her infamous impersonations. The big out-of-town event was White Party weekend in Palm Springs. The warm desert

ADVENTURES

DAISY AND RUBY’S

sun brought out the fine guys to spend a fun weekend of party after party. Ke$ha was one of the many special performances and although I can’t stand her “Don’t Stop” song, her latest single, “Your Love is my Drug” has really grown on me. Next up was the 2010 Film Out Film Festival. I attended the opening night with the pre-

mier of the The Big Gay Musical. It was a great time with a fun movie, hot guys and a fabulous after party at Top of the Park, where I discovered my new favorite drink…a Gummy Bear. May is shaping up to be as much fun as April, beginning with a Fiesta to celebrate Cinco

de Mayo, which lands on a Wednesday this year. So I hope to see everyone at Bacchus House for a very grand Fiesta with plenty of special giveaways, some of my hottest models from our magazine, guest performers and more. Remember the fun starts at 9:30 p.m. Don’t be late muchacho! I encourage you all to attend the “Out at the Globe” pre-show mixer for The Whipping Man

and Golda’s Balcony on May 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s an excellent way to experience the play. Be there and grab some appetizers and a cocktail or two before the theatre. If you’re a fan of 1980s music like I am, on May 15 you must head out to Viejas Casino’s

Dream Catcher venue for some totally awesome 1980s icons. Lisa Lisa, Klymaxx, and Debbie Deb will bring down the house. Bust out those leg warmers, stone washed denim jackets and big hair for the concert. Long Beach Pride is May 15 and 16. I will be getting ready with a little pre-tanning from

DJ Marcel

Tan Line. They have some super specials There is no reason to go out in public with a farmer’s tan. I’ll be in Long Beach to check out the parade and visit some of my local friends. I’m sure I will run into some of my favorite San Diego locals too. So many of us seem to migrate up there for this weekend. Now it’s time for me to go to the spa and relax before the month gets going. TTYL [Talk to you later!],
