and
It is very important to make a good first impression. Think back to
when you first looked at your house and what made you decide to
purchase it. You may have toured a professionally decorated model
that had just the right colors, just the right furnishings and everything
flowed. You envisioned yourself living in that home because it was
comfortable and attractive. It’s no accident that builders use deco-
rated models to attract buyers. They make potential buyers want to
move in. That’s what you want to accomplish when showing your
home. In the industry it is referred to as “staging”. There are a few
basic steps to begin the staging process. Firstly, it’s very important to
thoroughly clean and de-clutter. Have carpets and draperies profes-
sionally cleaned. Repair anything broken. Next, put into storage any
unnecessary accessories and furnishings that might make your home
look cluttered and small. A coat of paint is a good idea to freshen
up the home. When choosing paint, stick to neutral colors that every-
one will be comfortable with. Remove personal items and photos so
potential buyers can picture themselves living in your home. Next,
consider furniture placement and flow of traffic and make changes if
necessary. You may need to rearrange your art and accessories or
add some new pieces for a more dramatic or complete look. Once

make that will make a big difference and
won’t break the bank. Start by clearing out all
the clutter. A coat of paint does wonders and
instantly freshens the space. Chose a neutral
color that blends with the flooring and keep
the color light. A dark color will make an al-
ready small room appear smaller. If your bud-
