This page contains a Flash digital edition of a book.
For example, page range 9-16 means that the file contains eight consecutive pages and that
the first page in the file is page 9 in the Part. Remaining pages in the file will be ignored.
2. If appropriate enter the number of the start page in the “File Start Page” field. By default, the
specified page range starts with the first page in the file (File Start Page: 1). Specify a different
start page only if you want to skip pages at the beginning of files that contain multiple pages.
3. If a page already exists in the same position that you have entered in the “Part Page Range”,
the ‘Overlap’ icon will appear. You can replace any existing pages by placing a tick in the
box next to it.
Uploading a spread
You can also upload a DPS (double page spread) into a job that has single pages. :Portal will split
the spread into the single page positions that you specify.
For example, if you had a PDF for pages 2+3 that was supplied as one page, click on “Browse” as
you normally would for any other page, select the spread then under “Part Pages”, instruct :Portal
to place your file over the two pages (ie: 2-3).
Uploading the selected files
If the page range and start page is set for every file, you are now ready to upload the files.
Uploading always applies to ALL selected files on the Part Upload tab.
Click HTTP UPLOAD on the action bar.
If all selected files are valid the upload is started. The “Files selected for upload” list on the Part
Upload tab is cleared and the “:Portal HTTP Upload” window appears on top of the Upload tab.
The window contains a list of files that are being uploaded.
If a file is successfully uploaded its check box is selected. If the file upload was not successful a
failure reason is displayed in the :Portal HTTP Upload window (Remark). You will have to select
the corrected file(s) again, specify a different page range for every file, and upload the files.
When the file upload session has ended (indicated by “Upload Finished” being displayed at the
top of the window), you can close the window by clicking its close box. After the Upload window
is closed, the “Content Mappings” list is updated to contain the references to all files and page
ranges assigned to the Part.
CAUTION: The upload session only runs if the :Portal HTTP Upload window remains open.
