:Portal is a web application for printing and publishing companies that would like to offer
Web-based client collaboration including file submission, soft-proofing and job approval.
:Portal keeps everyone informed, wherever they are, and whatever their role in the process,
by establishing a digital messaging system that links the Customer and Stephens & George
Print Group (S&G) together. Using :Portal, Customers and S&G share a common virtual
workspace where they inspect, track, preview, review, proof (remote or on-site) and approve
pages in real time. Every user has a message box and can receive messages online or via
email.
Key benefits:
• Automated task implementation speeds productivity and provides faster project
turnaround times.
• No delay in waiting for proofs to be processed and produced.
• Simplified production procedures reduce errors and operating costs.
• PDF capability means you can transfer and process files with ease, without the risk of
losing critical information.
Steps:
1. Customer sends in an order to your S&G Account Manager.
2. The job specifications are built into a :Portal Project and when started, an invitation is
sent to the customer stating availability.
3. Customer logs on, enters their username and password and clicks on the ‘Upload’ tab.
4. PDFs are uploaded to the webserver, preflighted and a digital ‘soft-proof’ is produced.
5. Soft-proof is either approved or rejected.
6. Job is output to plate.
Before you begin
As with any PDF-creation, if your job is intended to print as CMYK, make sure all of your
colours are converted to process PRIOR to creating the PDF.
Clients can access :Portal through the internet using a web browser on their computer.
• On a Windows PC, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or later) or Mozilla Firefox.
• On a Macintosh, use Safari (OSX10.3 or later), Mozilla Firefox or Camino.
