March Forth on March Fourth for Marriage Equality
On March 5th the California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the
constitutionality of Proposition 8, the November ballot measure, which elimi-
nated the right to marry for same-sex couples in California. The night before this
historic moment, we invite opponents of the ban to demonstrate for marriage
equality by joining us at our March Forth on March Fourth rally and candlelight
vigil in front of the Hall of Justice on 330 W. Broadway in downtown San Diego.
The rally begins at 4:00 p.m. on March 4 and is planned to unify our supporters
while showing support for justice and the 18,000 existing same-sex marriages.
Choruses, community and faith leaders, elected officials and loving, committed
couples will all speak out for marriage equality. A 6:00 p.m. candlelight vigil will
immediately follow the conclusion of the rally.

San Diego Opera Insight Series
Do you love the full experience of an evening at the opera but still can’t get
enough? Dr. Ronald Shaheen, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at the Univer-
sity of San Diego, will be in town on Wednesday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m. to present
a thorough lecture about the ins-and-outs of popular operas. This particular talk
will focus primarily on Giuseppe Verdi’s libretto-based opera Rigoletto. This free,
but richly profound lecture will be presented at the San Diego City Library at 820
