There were mixed reactions this week to the news that Viking Airlines had decided to suspended its operations

I think Viking has gone to be honest (“Viking Airlines ‘suspends operations’

but vows to return next summer,” ttglive.com), and it would be for the best. Constant delays, terrible passenger reviews,

late payments to staff... the list is endless. I hardly think they will be back with an upgraded fleet when the aircraft they already had were extremely worn and tatty. Funnily enough one was an old XL aircraft, and we all know the fate of that company.

John Smith, cabin crew, easyJet

Viking has not ceased any operations. The company has taken a prudent

stance after a very poor summer for all airlines. It plans to reduce its costs in the winter and

If Atol reform does not include all of travel, it will not work

The Atol reform will be a disaster (TTGOctober 15). All travel businesses should be regulated, including homeworkers. There are a lot of agents in Leicester who are

not Atol-bonded. It is unfair on agents who have an Atol and pay a huge bonding fee. If all agents were regulated by the CAA, the Air Travel Trust Fund would not be as much in the red as it is.

Good luck to Viking. It is dealing with a bad situation in difficult times, and

seems to have done the sensible thing. I hope to see it back stronger next year.

Pleased with homeworking for Holidays Please

I left Freedom two years ago to join Holidays Please as a 100% homeworker (“Co-op’s home- working rivals hope for recruits,” ttglive.com). Apart from saving a small fortune each month,

I’m glad I left as my whole business is based on being independent. The company is rebranding its 100% commission offer as Holidays Please Select, which will appeal to other homeworkers.

If you’ve got a nightmare boss, try telling him that he’s fired

My advice to anyone working for a nightmare boss is simple (TTGOctober 15) – ditch him quick and stuff the how to manage him bit. An employee is paid to do a good job – if you

have that capability, offer your services to someone who deserves it. Nightmare bosses don’t give capable

employees their due share in wage rises either, as they are too concerned that the talented worker may end up sitting in the boss’s chair.

Morocco mega fam trip showed me new possibilities

Thanks to the Moroccan National Tourist Office for its mega fam trip. Having never been to Morocco it was an eye-opening experience; the country had so many possibilities in the spa market that I would not have thought of. The hundreds of agents who took part enjoyed learning about this amazing country, and we felt like an important part of the tourist office’s efforts.
