Eight years ago, my partners and I decided to leave our former job and put everything on the line to begin publishing what we knew was a much-needed source of information for the industry. Our editorial director Joe Escobar and I had not only been employed as maintenance technicians, but had been reporting and writing extensively about the maintenance profession. One thing we both observed as students of the industry was that the people leading maintenance departments (DOMs and managers) were typically promoted to those positions because they were the best mechanics on the fl oor. We also observed was that what makes someone the best mechanic on the fl oor doesn’t necessarily make them a good manager or leader! We felt there was a gap in information and knowledge that we wanted to fi ll. And thus began what is now the leading publication for aircraft maintenance managers! I think it’s fair to say that Joe, Bob Graf and I never looked back, and we are thankful for the support that we have received and continue to receive as we move forward. Speaking of moving forward, we are constantly looking for new ways to bring information to our readers in a timely and effi cient manner. Our commitment to a printed and mailed magazine remains a top priority. After all, we have surveyed our audience numerous times and our readers still prefer to receive a print publication over any other form of distribution. However, we have noticed our readers are also embracing new ways to collect and review information and training materials. This is why we continue to look for new ways to disseminate information. In the last two years, we have delivered our magazine in print, on IOS (Apple IPad, IPhone,

etc.), Android, Kindle and web HTML 5 (web browser), and have delivered monthly newsletters via email. We recognize that more can be done to

provide timely and frequent information to our readers. As you read this, our website is undergoing a major overhaul and update, and we intend to give you better access to your subscriber information so you can control the products that are delivered to you and update your subscriber information (for example, in the event you move). And we’re not stopping there! This summer, we are launching a bonus August digital-only issue of D.O.M. magazine. We will fi ll you in on the contents of that issue and let you know how it is progressing, but we need your help in getting the word out! Please let your peers know that there is an August digital-only issue of D.O.M. coming soon and that it will only be available on our website and apps to our registered users.

At the time of this writing, the

registration is not yet completed on our website, but we will have it completed in Late May. Visit www.dommagazine.com often to see when we have it available. While you are there, browse other information, news and blogs that are exclusive to our site, and of course feel free to lend your patronage to our advertisers by clicking on their ads and learning about their products and services. As we begin our ninth year of publishing,

we are more optimistic than ever that, with your help, we can continue to fulfi ll our mission of providing you, the leaders in the aircraft maintenance industry, with the critical information that you need to do your job. Thank you to our readers and advertisers for supporting D.O.M. magazine!

Sincerely, Greg Napert Proud to be an A&P
