Hot, Cold & Filtered Taps

More functionality from a single product

I

t’s clear that the tap market is becoming very competitive with a proliferation of brands vying for a share of the market. What’s really caught the imagination is the boiling water tap, as consumers switch on to the lifestyle enhancing benefits of instant boiling water to speed up a multitude of tasks.

Comment by Steve Rutter Marketing Manager, Franke UK

Sales in the filter tap market have grown at a steadier pace, and yet you only have to look at the growth in the bottled water market in recent years to see that there is enormous sales potential still in taps that offer filtration. The average cost of a one litre bottle of water is 44 pence, but Thames Water say that a litre of tap water costs 0.01 pence, though that’s without the assured benefits of filtered water. Given this comparison, it should be easy to sell the benefits of a filter tap.

Todays’ consumer expects more and more functionality from a single product. Early mobile phones have unrecognisably transformed into a smart phone from which you can run your life

these days. Naturally this sort of expectation trickles down into other products and so it will be with taps. 4-in-1 technology with inbuilt filtration is now here and 3-in 1 is becoming more mainstream than it was just a few short years ago. 4-in-1 will open up sales to a new customer segment and will have a transformative effect on the tap market as we know it.

Franke first to market with a 4-in-1 mixer tap F

ranke has launched Omni, a lever-operated 4-in-1 kitchen mixer tap. Omni is the only tap on the market to offer filtered boiling water at a full 100°C, filtered cold water and standard mains hot and cold from a single mixer. Easy to operate and fully reversible, one lever is for mains hot and cold, the other dispenses filtered boiling and filtered cold water.

Omni marries the timeless appeal of a swan- neck spout with the exceptional build quality and prestige of hi-shine solid stainless steel and comes with a three-year warranty.

Premium filtration is assured with a separate tube to maintain the water’s integrity and an LED to indicate when a filter cartridge needs replacing. The filter removes impurities but leaves healthy minerals in the drinking water while reducing the build-up of limescale in the boiling water tank.

The 100°C boiling water function boasts triple safety features including a push and turn activation function, spring-loaded shut off and child safety clip that can be fitted optionally to prevent the tap from being accidentally turned on. The compact 4 litre stainless steel tank and filter fit neatly into the

under-sink cupboard and will dispense the equivalent of eight cups of hot water or two pan fulls with a fast replenishment time.
