Dallmer scales up its operations

Dallmer floor drains prove their fitness at Fulham easyGym

A

s a manufacturer renowned for the delicacy and fine lines of its wet room drainage product, Dallmer has continued to invest in heavy duty engineering for the latest expansion at its plant in Arnsberg, Germany. Fitting out a neighbouring building began with the construction of a 50 metre long covered bridge linking it to the existing plant, spanning an access road way on this sometimes challenging sloping site.

Despite extensive expansion at the factory within the past decade, demand for its CeraLine, CeraWall and other products for beautiful bathrooms in many markets has increased so strongly that the additional 20,000 square metres of space has been purchased to handle finished goods as well as expand production facilities. Some of the figures for the new equipment are equally impressive – an injection moulding machine weighing 78 tonnes was recently delivered on 3 low loaders for final assembly on site. A fully-automated production milling machine has also gone into service.

Referring to the new addition to the company’s infrastructure, owner Johannes Dallmer stated: “This is a very important investment for us to ensure that our customers in Germany, across Europe, but also in America, the Middle East and beyond, continue to receive the first class level of service which Dallmer is renowned for and prides itself on.”

Dallmer celebrated its centenary in 2013, having been established in Leipzig by the current owner’s grandfather.

The company began producing plastic products in the 1950s and has since grown its reputation for the innovative design, manufacture and supply of high quality drainage systems.

It has operated it’s own distribution and marketing business in the UK for nearly 20 years. Its latest development launched at ISH Frankfurt in March and is making a UK debut at May Design Week, CeraFloor, is another elegant linear drainage system, drawing interest from architects and interior designers involved with the hospitality, leisure and high end residential sectors around the world.

Dallmer’s Tisto FastTrap, the flexible one-piece shower waste

Now available from Dallmer Ltd., based in beautiful Lavenham in Suffolk, is the FastTrap, a one piece drain perfect for wetrooms on timber, in solid floors and also for installation in screed. While this latest

addition to the extensive Dallmer product list is ideal for new-build situations, the FastTrap, with a height of only 100mm, has proved particularly popular for installation in older properties where lack of build up height has to be overcome. Tested to a flow rate of 45 litres per minute, the new trap is specifically designed for use with the latest high-powered showers.

The FastTrap can be used on plywood decks or with solid floors and has a height adjustability of up to 46mm for the floor finish – enough to allow for anything from marble to mosaics. For use in screed Tisto-anchors have been incorporated in the base plate to provide permanent adhesion and the trap, in a high quality polypropylene body, can be used with brush-on or layer membrane. The foot-friendly gratings always provide ready top access to the trap. A ‘vertical’ version of the new trap is available with a height adjustable grating and a DN 50 vertical outlet and is offered with a 304 grade Stainless Steel grating in either 95mm square or 120mm square size. The FastTrap with a horizontal coupling for side outlet is the more popular trap, with height flexibility on the grating section form 7 to 66mm. The couplings have DN50 compression joints with a solvent weld socket. The trap has ABS connectors and the 120mm square grate is available in ABS as well as top quality Stainless Steel.

This new product from Dallmer is designed to be adaptable for all common situations and has been manufactured from high quality materials throughout. The FastTrap is easy to fit and fully efficient in use. Should a user wish to up-grade the surface appearance of the product, Dallmer offers a very wide variety of designer gratings mostly in stone finishes, some with coloured inserts and with the offer of stainless steel framing.

Dallmer has supplied its stylish CeraLine shower channels for a chain of popular private fitness clubs stretching from the capital to the Midlands: being specified for their high discharge rates and excellent installation characteristics as well as their attractive appearance: proving their all-round fitness for purpose. The easyGym operates 10 venues created by the group, which had previously spread its wings from airline flights to budget hotels. The Fulham gym, with five female and five male shower cubicles, is one of the latest venues to be refurbished. Dallmer was able to supply the CeraLine W2000 units so that they could be finished on site. This latest contract was carried out by main contractor, Lovebuild. Work was completed on schedule, in June, with the design of the rugged, stainless steel and polypropylene drainage channels helping to speed both the plumbing connections and the laying of the floor tiling. The two metre long sections of channel feature sanded flanges to ensure a secure bond with the under-tile waterproofing layer; while the height adjustable legs facilitate millimetre accurate levelling. As in this instance the CeraLine is normally aligned with the wall of the shower area to remove water effectively from the surrounding floor surface. In fact with water filling to a depth of 20 mm around the CeraLine W2000, the hydraulic design of the Dallmer channel offers a flow rate of 1.4 litres per second compared to just 0.8 for standard channels. The CeraLine W2000 can also be laid with temporary blanking plates while the waste water connection is made using a ball-jointed side outlet which is adjustable from 0-15 degrees. A spokesperson for the project team commented: “Dallmer’s CeraLine W2000 channels are ideal for locations like the easyGym changing rooms, where clients expect the facilities to look their best. The CeraLine is simple to work with when positioning and laying the tiles up to their sides, while they also remove water very effectively and are easy to keep clean.
