ACCOUNTING FOR THE FUTURE

H

ospitality operators are a notoriously slow-moving bunch when it comes to accounting technology. Many still rely on spreadsheets or out-of-date systems that aren’t linked together instead of reaping the benefits of the latest integrated solutions, which can give them a full picture of their business, wherever they are.

Indeed, not only can the most up-to-date accounting technologies be fully integrated with all other systems across the business – from property management systems (PMS) to budgeting and forecasting software – they can also be accessed just as easily from home or on a train as they can from the financial depart- ment’s headquarters.

Back-office technology plays second fiddle to front-of-house service for many hospitality operators, according to Paul Wellingham at the NAV People, a reseller of the Microsoft Dynam- ics NAV enterprise resource planning system.
