Crystal boosts river cruise operation to five vessels

Crystal Cruises is “upping the ante” by entering the river cruise sector a year earlier than planned and with more than twice the number of ships originally ordered.

had revealed plans to build two luxury river vessels for delivery in 2017. But Crystal will now begin river cruising next year after acquiring the largest river ship in Europe, Mozart, from German company Premicon. Four new-builds will then follow


by the end of 2017. Mozart will undergo an


extensive refit in drydock and sail its inaugural itinerary as Crystal Mozart on July 13.
