Supplier Update
parkworld-online.com MADE IN ITALY
Italy’s ride manufacturing industry continues to be a major force in the supply of small to medium sized attractions. Just like the products they build, the companies that make them are often family-focused affairs and this, according to Michele Bertazzon, is one of the reasons why many are still in business. As well as heading up Bertazzon 3B, well known for its bumper cars, carousels and other rides, Michele is also the president of the national ride manufacturers’ trade association ANCASVI. “Italian companies have had to do well internationally because the local market is not so strong.” he says. “Also most companies are still manufacturing exclusively for the amusement business; that’s not the case in all countries.” With a wide variety of product on offer and a good quality: price ratio, it seems safe to assume parks and attractions operators will be buying Italian for some time to come. Here’s a quick update on two well-known manufacturers, one a family firm in both name and status, and the other very much so in its outlook.

fun houses and spinning coasters
“We’ve just built our first Fun House for the US,” announces Lisa Gosetto proudly. “It’s a 4-storey construction with a New York New York theme for Myers International Midways and it was set to debut this July.”
The attraction stands 13.5m tall with over 22.5m of frontage thanks to its twin trailer configuration. Paying guests can enjoy 26 ‘tricks’ including a rotating barrel, rotating carpet, jumping footboard, suspending bridges and a spiral slide from the top floor. A smaller loading trailer carries slide and other accessories.
Also due for its first public appearance this month is another Fun House of the same size, this time for the Swiss showman Claude Reymond. Named Coco Bongo, it is Gosetto’s first such attraction in Switzerland and was supplied with TÜV approval. An impressive 34 tricks are packed inside and outside of the attraction, including special water and smoke effects. Gosetto has also broken new ground by building its first park model family coaster, now open at Dennlys Parc in France. The attraction features a train of four motorised spinning cars, each seating 4 riders. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use (the latter in the case of Dennlys), it boasts a compact a 24.7 x 12.7 m footprint and figure 8 layout. “This affordable ride is designed to accommodate the entire family, so even the little ones can experience the thrills of their first rollercoaster ride,” notes Lisa. Gosetto is also building a park model Fun House, due for October/November delivery to as yet unnamed client, as well as several kiddie rides for the Middle East.
