Alonzo King LINES Ballet “Biophony”

Wednesday, May 4 at 7:30 pm $45/$38/$30

“Alonzo King is one of the few bona fide visionaries in the ballet world today.” —San Francisco Chronicle

Called “hyperkinetic” and “exceptional” by the New Yorker, Alonzo King LINES Ballet is an 11-member troupe that combines classical Western ballet with a diverse set of cultural traditions. Biophony is Alonzo King’s newest collaboration with natural soundscape artist Bernie Krause and composer Richard Blackford. For more than 40 years, Krause has traveled the globe with microphones tuned to the earth and its creatures. The dancers’ kinetics are heightened amid calls of killer whales and tree frogs; their bodies mingle with the mud, salt, and dust of their new sonic environments. The company’s flawless technique, mixed with King’s expressive choreography, creates beautiful, sensual dance works.
