Industry Update THE BMA COLUMN
ECF launches a new suite…of consumer style brochures
After 35 years as one of the leading names in the business, many will be familiar with ECF’s huge range of kitchens, bathrooms and components. Now though, they’re looking better than ever – thanks to a new range of customer-friendly brochures. Already available are brochures covering the Expressions Handles range,
Hoxton Painted Doors and Greyhouse Bathrooms, each featuring stunning photography and stylish design. There’s also the ECF Components Portfolio, aimed at the trade but using the same sophisticated look, and these will soon be joined by Kitchen Doors and Bedroom Doors portfolios. “We’re really pleased with the new designs, which showcase our products like
never before.” Said Simon Noble, ECF’s Marketing Manager. “The idea is to give our clients literature they can then use as a ‘sales tool’ with their own customers. So far reaction from the trade has been terrific.” For more information, please visit

Latest Product designs at recent exhibitions T
he recent bathroom exhibitions have demonstrated the proof that the design and technology of our industry’s products is
advancing at a pace like never before. Creativity is the norm, spurred on, perhaps, by the recession. It’s those
manufacturers who push technical boundaries to stimulate their markets that are the fittest. And it’s the retailers who embrace those new products who get the foot fall. Members of the BMA are leading the way in advancing bathroom technology and the pace is quickening. The exhibitions have shown that white remains the dominant colour (or
rather lack of colour) in the industry but new materials are pushing to create stunning designs, incorporating new colours and textures to glazes and surface finishes on shining shapes. Low volume flushing is now normal and this is great news for the essential
effort to reduce our nation’s consumption of water but a clever spin off is the rimless WC which is available in most manufacturers catalogues. Ingenious CAD and advanced manufacturing have brought these extremely hygienic toilets to both domestic and commercial markets, hospitals and care establishments. Taps and fittings have had their makeover too. The push for safe water
temperatures is the catalyst for designers to create contemporary fittings with factory fitted Thermostatic Mixing Valves to prevent scalding. The BMA’s own campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of uncontrolled hot water, the Hot water Burns Like Fire initiative, may be beginning to make its mark.
www.hotwaterburns.org. Baths, showers, trays and furniture, and a multitude of products for
disabled people, have all been getting the design treatment. And with the huge growth of the award winning Water Label (
www.europeanwaterlabel.eu) which showcases the most water efficient bathroom products, its proving to be an exciting time.
