Fun, Useful and Interesting Information Inside
By Ellen H. Brisendine,

HIS JUNE ISSUE IS FULL OF FUN AND INTERESTING INFORMATION. FROM WIRE FOR fence to wireless networks for the ranch to welding projects, we have articles for the working ranch.
This month’s cover was created by Carol Hutchison, Georgetown. We
are always delighted to feature Carol’s work on our covers and in the maga- zine. You’ll fi nd more of her work in the feature “A Unique Camaraderie of Lawmen” in this issue. Carol provides a case study of how Texas and Southwestern Cattle Rais-
ers Association (TSCRA) special rangers worked with sheriffs’ offi ces and rural police forces in Texas and Arkansas to bring 2 cattle thieves to jus- tice, solving a number of other cattle theft cases before the victims were even aware of the crimes. Robert Fears covers the topic of types of fence wire, while Kristin Hawkins,
the editor of our daily e-mailed newsletter, provides tips for a wireless net- work at your ranch. We asked via Facebook, and via personal notes to some of our leaders, for photos of great welding projects at the ranch. If it wasn’t for ranch welders, there would be a lot of rickety gates and bad loading chutes out on ranches. Take a look at a few projects pictured in this issue. And fi nally, we have 28 pages of coverage from the 2015 Cattle Raisers
Convention, March 27 to 29. Since the convention we have been posting news and photos to
www.tscra.org. But in this issue, we are able to provide a letter from President Pete Bonds on his concerns for TSCRA, along with 2 articles from specifi c programs at the event. I hope you enjoy the conven- tion coverage. It was a hugely successful event, drawing more than 3,500 attendees, students, exhibitors, day pass visitors, members and friends of TSCRA. I hope this issue’s coverage, and the information at
www.tscra.org, inspires you to plan on being at the 2016 Cattle Raisers Convention, April 8 to 10, in Fort Worth.
