BEREAVEMENTS


Elizabeth Parrott London, Throckmorton, died March 30. She was born May 23, 1918, to James Massie “Gee” Parrott and Bessie Condron Parrott. She graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1935. She married G. D. “Nig” London, Nov. 6, 1937, and they established their life as ranchers. She is survived by her daughter, Georgia London Keeter and husband, Harrell, and numer- ous other relatives. Memorials may be made to First United Meth- odist Church of Throckmorton, Throckmorton Ex-Student Schol- arship Fund, or Depot Library. Lon Cartwright, Dinero, died April 3, 2015 in Corpus Christi. He was born in Terrell July 6, 1922, to Lon and Ross Cartwright. He was involved in the ranching industry for 80 years, fi rst with his cousins, Holman and Claire Cartwright and then with his son, Loncito. He served as president of the Live Oak County Farm Bureau, as a director of TSCRA, and on the Live Oak Soil Conservation Board. He worked closely with the Texas A&M Experimental Station and TCU Ranch Management School. Lon served as a Director of First National Bank of Beeville. He was honored by the Soil Conservation Service in 1984 as Rancher of the Year. Twin Oaks Ranch was the Live Oak County Conservation Recipient in 2008. Cartwright is survived by his son, Loncito; and daughter, Claire Vaughan and her husband, George; and numerous other relatives. Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, the South Texas Children’s Home, or to the charity of one’s choice.
