2015 Recipients of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Foundation Veterinary Medicine Scholarship
The TSCRF proudly awarded five $5,000 scholarships to students nearing completion of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine and planning careers in a large animal practice. These scholarships are made possible by private donations and support of the TSCRA.
Kathryn Juneau, Lake Jackson Texas Kathryn received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sam Houston State University. She has worked in the clinical pathology lab at Texas A&M. Kathryn’s goal is to be a large animal veterinarian; specifically working with food animals and she plans to be an associate at a large or mixed animal clinic.
Alyzabeth Looney, Denton Texas Alyzabeth received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University. Her interest at a young age in science, medicine & animals steered her to wanting to become a veterinarian. After graduation, Alyzabeth wants to begin her career under an established veterinarian in Central Texas.
Lauren Ann Szalach, Camden New Jersey
Lauren is currently an adoption counselor and a mobile adoption leader with a local shelter while attending Texas A&M. She would like to gain more experience by completing an internship at a large animal clinic. Lauren is considering a large animal surgical residency and wants to eventually work in a large animal clinic.
Gaylon Wilmeth, Dilley Texas Gaylon received a Bachelor’s of Science in Natural Resource Management from Angelo State University. She has gained experience by working as a Veterinary Assistant. The clinic in Gaylon’s hometown has closed its doors; and upon graduation Gaylon plans to return to her hometown and create a mixed animal practice.
Leah Woller, Uvalde Texas In 2011, Leah graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M. She has worked for the past seven years at a rural veterinary clinic. Upon graduation, Leah plans to work in a mixed animal practice in North Texas where she will be able to assist producers with the health of their beef cattle herds.
