VC Z embedded cameras The first models of Vision Components’ intelligent camera series VC Z are available for delivery. The embedded systems offer real-time image processing suitable for demanding high- speed and line scan applications: all models are equipped with Xilinx’s Zynq module, an Arm dual-core Cortex-A9 with 866 MHz and an integrated FPGA. The new camera generation is based on the

board camera series VCSBC Nano Z. With a footprint of 40 x 65mm, these compact systems

are especially easy to integrate into machines. The cameras are optionally available with one

or two remote sensor heads and thus suitable for stereo applications. Users can choose between two enclosed camera types: the VC Nano Z, which has housing dimensions of 80 x 45 x 20mm, and the VC Pro Z, which measures 90 x 58 x 36mm and can be fitted with a lens and an integrated LED illumination. The new operating system VC Linux ensures optimal interaction between hardware and software. www.vision-components.com

VRmIC3 OEM industrial model VRmagic now offers an intelligent camera that is perfectly suited to applications in industrial environments, the VRmIC3 OEM. The camera features a wide range of interfaces and an industry- compliant 12-48V DC wide-range power input with overvoltage and reverse polarity protection. Based on the powerfulD3 intelligent camera platform, applications in quality control, surface inspection, or assembly inspection can be implemented easily. The D3 intelligent camera platform features

a 1GHz Arm-Cortex-A8-RISC MPU with floating point unit (FPU) running Ubuntu Linux, and a 700MHz C674x VLIW DSP with FPU. 2GB DDR3-800 RAM and 16GB Flash on-board.

The VRmIC3 OEM comes

with a large number of interfaces like Gigabit Ethernet, Power over Ethernet, USB 2.0 host, and RS232. Furthermore, it has a compact design with a single main board and a separate sensor board. The VRmIC3 OEM is available as single-sensor camera and as remote-sensor camera. In addition to the OEM product there are also versions with S-mount and C-mount lens holders. A large portfolio of image processing software is

available for application developers. The D3 intelligent platform supports complex programming libraries like Common Vision Blox Embedded and Halcon Embedded, easy-to-use image processing software like Eye Vision, and the open source program library OpenCV. www.vrmagic.com

UVC cameras IDS Imaging Development Systems has

introduced the UVC cameras with USB 2.0 interface. The small board-level cameras measure only 36 x 36mm

and have a 2 megapixel CMOS sensor. Users do not need to install a particular driver to use the cameras thanks to USB video class. Users have a choice between two models:

board-level version UV-1551LE with M12 lens holder for S-mount lenses, and solely the board-level version UV-1552LE. Both models are offered with a 1/3-inch 2 megapixel CMOS sensor from Aptina providing a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels with an aspect ratio of

4:3 and 15fps. VGA (640 x 480 pixels), SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) and HD (1,024 x 768 pixels) resolutions are also available. The cameras offer manually adjustable features like brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness and exposure time. Users may implement their own applications for the UVC camera via DirectShow (Windows) or Video4Linux (Linux).

The UVC board-level cameras are suitable for applications in machine vision, mechanical and apparatus engineering, transportation, security and process monitoring, as well as in embedded and kiosk systems.

The standard UVC driver allows the cameras to operate independently of the manufacturer. Therefore, as soon as the user connects the camera to a computer, the camera can be used straightaway to deliver images. www.ids-imaging.de
