Germanwings aircraft crashes over French Alps An Airbus A320 carrying 144 passengers and six crew crashed in the south of France on Tuesday. The Lufthansa-owned Germanwings aircraft was flying from Barcelona to Düsseldorf when it disappeared from radar. A distress call was made shortly before the crash. The wreckage was found in the French Alps between Digne-les-Bains and Barcelonnette. No survivors were expected to be found.
