World University Games-Women


Held every other year, the World


University Games is organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The WUGs are a multi-sport competition open to men and women who are between the ages of 17 and 24 (born between 1/1/88 and 12/31/98), who are enrolled as a full- time collegiate student with remaining eligibility for the 2015-16 school year. The 2015 World University Games


is being contested July 3-14 in Gwangju, South Korea. Trials for the USA Women’s World


University Games Team will be conduct- ed May 14-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Player selections will be made by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee. USA Basketball women's teams


have participated in 17 prior World University Games and collected a record nine golds, six silvers and one bronze medal. Further, since 1973, the first year the USA women competed in the WUGs, USA women’s teams have compiled an overall 101-15 record. In 2013, led by tournament co-MVP

FIBA Americas U16 Championship For Men USA Basketball will invite


approximately 30 athletes, 16-years-old or younger (born on or after 1/1/99), to the USA U16 National Team training camp that will be conducted May 27- June 6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Members of the USA U16 Team will be selected by USA Basketball’s Developmental National Team Committee.


The 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, scheduled to be held June 10-14 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, will feature eight nation- al teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.


Including host Argentina, also quali- fied are Canada and the United States as the North American entries; while Mexico (gold medalist), Puerto Rico (silver medalist) and Dominican Republic (bronze medalist) qualified through the 2014 Centrobasket U15 Championship; while and Brazil (gold medalist) and Venezuela (bronze medalist) qualified through the 2014 South American U15 Championship. The top four finishing teams will


qualify for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship. As the previous two USA Men’s


U16 National Teams had done, the 2013 USA Men’s U16 National Team rolled to an unblemished 5-0 slate en route to the FIBA Americas U16 Championship gold medal. USA U16 team members of note


include: Brad Beal (2009); Quinn Cook (2009); Aaron Gordon (2011); James McAdoo (2009); Malik Newman (2013); Jahlil Okafor (2011); Jabari Parker (2011); Diamond Stone (2013); and Seventh Woods (2013).


FIBA Americas U16 Championship For Women The 2015 FIBA Americas U16


Championship for Women will be held June 24-28 in Mexico and serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship. The FIBA Americas U16 Championship features eight U16 national teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
