recognition for Auriemma and an unparalleled sixth for Krzyzewski. “USA Basketball is incredibly

grateful to Geno and Mike for all of the time and hard work that they have dedicated to USA Basketball this past summer and throughout the years,” said USA Basketball CEO/Executive Director Jim Tooley. “Our national teams are much stronger because of their commitments, and we are very proud to honor them as our Co-National Coaches of the Year.” Auriemma led the 2014 USA

Basketball Women’s World Championship Team to a 6-0 record and the gold medal at the FIBA World Championship from Sept. 27–Oct. 5 in Istanbul, Turkey. “Well I’m still way behind Coach

K!” joked Auriemma about earning his third USA Basketball National Coach of the Year award. “It’s a great honor to be the coach of this team and have the opportunity to coach the best play- ers in the world against the best teams in the world. It’s something that, no matter how many years I’m with USA Basketball or how many gold medals we win, it’s always something that’s a special feeling. To be associated with Coach K again certainly puts me in great company” Krzyzewski steered the 2014 USA

Basketball Men’s World Cup Team to a 9-0 record and the gold medal at the FIBA Basketball World Cup from Aug. 30-Sept. 14 in Bilbao, Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. “Sharing this award with Geno is terrific, because he is one of the great

real, like how could you be doing it for that long?” Krzyzewski contin- ued. “So when I think about that, I think about how lucky I am to be the national coach of our men’s team. And as a result we are going to get good players, and I got a good chance of winning with those players and those players have made the commitment to win. So, it’s an honor, and I hope there is another one in the future.” The women’s title was the
