“The most special thing about play-

ing for Coach K was being able to have his guidance again and his confidence,” said U.S. guard Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers), who was named MVP of the 2014 FIBA World Cup. “It was so easy because he makes it simple about what he wants you to do, and that’s be your- self, have your ego and continue to just do whatever it takes to win. And that’s

the attitude he instilled in all of us. We all came with that attitude, but Coach K, he has that ability as a leader to make you want to go through a wall for him, even though you’ve only known him for a week or so. It was just great to

play for him again.” He has led the USA

Men’s National Team to a 63-game winning streak (45 FIBA, Olympic and FIBA Americas games, 18 exhibitions). The streak started on Sept. 2, 2006, with a win over Argentina in the 2006 World Cup bronze medal game and includes perfect records at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, 2008 and 2012 Olympics and 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Cups.
