IHG opens Crowne Plaza in London’s Battersea InterContinental Hotels Group has opened a property next to London Heliport, on the south bank of the Thames. The 78-room Crowne Plaza London – Battersea is owned by Fabiano Hotels and managed by IHG. It was previously known as Hotel Verta and was part of the Von Essen chain. The hotel is near Clapham Junction station, which offers connections to central London and Gatwick.

Fairmont targets 2017 for foray into central China Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is to open a property in Wuhan, the
capital of Hubei province, in central China. Set to open in 2017, the property will feature 350 rooms, four dining options and significant space for events and banqueting.

Hotel Montreal has opened on the edge of Hagley Park in Christchurch, New Zealand. The boutique property has 25
rooms, each with a balcony, iPad, iPod dock and plasma screens. The hotel will stage open-air
plays in the summer. Hotel Montreal’s three-bedroom
penthouse includes a full kitchen and balconies. Diners can enjoy locally sourced meals and drinks at Polo Bar. A night in a luxury suite starts at £213, based on two or three sharing.
Rates for the penthouse start at £803 a night, based on six sharing.
