Clia to host a River Cruise Weekend in wake of success of Cruise Week
Clia UK & Ireland is to hold a weekend of activity around the river cruise sector. River Cruise Weekend will be held on March 26-30 to raise
the profile of the sector within the trade and to consumers. The initiative follows the success of Cruise Week in September/October. The social media-led event will focus on promoting the diversity
of destinations available on a river cruise, as well as the experiences and service provided by the association’s 17 river-cruise members. Almost 110,000 people from the UK took a river cruise in 2013 –
22% more than the previous year. Clia UK & Ireland director Andy Harmer said: “More agents are selling river cruises, but we want to grow this interest still further. “We will ask travel agents and guests to tweet #lovecruise with
a wonderful photo of a river-cruise destination or experience, explaining why they love river cruising.”
Celebrity offers a grand – in points
Celebrity Cruises is giving agents the chance to “grab a grand” as part of its turn-of-year campaign. Agents signed up to the Celebrity Rewards scheme will receive 1,000 extra points for bookings of seven nights or more in an ocean-view cabin or above. The offer applies to selected European cruises departing between April and September. The campaign will continue until a million points have been
given away.

Travel Indochina rebrand reflects pan-Asian range
Travel Indochina has unveiled a rebrand designed to better reflect its pan-Asian product and focus on local experiences. The escorted-tours operator will change its name to Insider Journeys on February 2. The new branding and strapline “Imagine the Stories” will feature on brochures, which will be delivered next week. UK general manager Lesley Wright said: “This change better talks of who we are and how we operate. It focuses on the insider experiences that we deliver on the ground. It will give agents something tangible to talk about as they step through those journeys.” The small-groups operator
introduced tours in Vietnam 21 years ago and now features 11 countries across Asia. Wright insisted there
were no plans at present to add destinations outside the continent, but refused to rule out further expansion. Travel Indochina has been selling through the UK trade for two years and agents account for about 45% of sales.
