American Queen Steamboat eyes more sales through Clia agents

American Queen Steamboat Company is focusing on working with Clia agents this year. Graham Clubb, UK managing


director, said the line had seen great traction from agents who are members of the cruise association, and that he was keen to push that relationship further. “We are selling mainly through Clia agents because they understand our product and what we offer,” he said. “We are running a lot of webinars through Clia, and we also see a lot of response from


the Clia River Cruise Convention.” In 2016, the line will sail the length of the Mississippi for the first time. The American Queen will sail from St Paul in Minneapolis to New Orleans in Louisiana. The trip can be booked in its entirety or in segments. The American


Queen will offer 29 voyages on the Mississippi in 2016, while there will be 36 sailings on American Empress on

the Columbia and Snake rivers. Prices on the


American Queen start at £3,175 for an


eight-day trip including flights and a night’s pre-cruise accommodation. American


Empress cruises lead in at £2,645 for a similar package. Clubb said the line was 50% up


year on year and added: “Guests cruising with us tend to plan their next sailing before departing their current cruise, and 2016 is already on many agendas.”
