Cosmos Tours & Cruises plans to expand cruise sales through indies

Hollie-Rae Merrick

Cosmos Tours & Cruises is looking to put more focus on its cruise programme this year. Product director John Fair said the cruise side of the business had been overshadowed by the tours, but the operator now planned to drive its cruise business and give it as much emphasis as the tours. “A lot of agents aren’t aware of our cruise packages because cruising has lived in the shadow of touring,” said Fair. “We do a great deal of river cruise packages with CroisiEurope and Luftner.”

The operator has had its own

sales team since the Monarch group, owner of Cosmos, was sold to Greybull Capital in October. Fair said Cosmos Tours & Cruises had good business from Thomson and Thomas Cook agents but he was keen to develop more ties with cruise specialists and independent agents. He also revealed plans to expand Cosmos Tours & Cruises’ two-strong on-the-road sales team this year. Currently, one sales agent covers the north of the country, the other the south. cosmostoursandcruises.co.uk
