Concrete firm delivers for multi- million-pound distribution centre project


Owen Batham, sales and marketing director at Elite Precast Concrete Limited, says the company has supplied over a thousand of its Legato interlocking blocks for the construction of a huge retaining wall at a new distribution centre in Dunstable.

est Midlands-based Elite Precast Concrete was called upon by construction


       blocks to build a retaining wall as part of the development of the Prologis distribution centre 


The blocks were used to create a 220m long and 5m high retaining wall at the new facility, providing a quicker, better value      to the standard gabion baskets that had       contractor, was working to a tight timeframe and contracted specialists PNR Construction to prepare the foundations and install blocks. The project involved the very highest level of team-working between all the companies and


the incredible result was that in just 10 working days over 1,000 Legato blocks were delivered and installed.


The 310,000 sq ft distribution centre is


strategically located close to the M1 and is part of a development to provide more distribution centres in the south east, which has a severe shortage.

Arriva TrainCare on track with advanced fuelling technology

he latest advanced fuel management systems from UK commercial


fuelling


specialist Cameron Forecourt is now being used to monitor the fuelling of rail vehicles at three sites operated by Arriva TrainCare.


Key depots at Crewe, Cambridge and Tyne Yard can now be monitored in ‘real time’ round-the- clock throughout the year using Jigsaw Eclipse fuel management systems and high accuracy  installed and commissioned as a turnkey package by Cameron Forecourt.


Rail vehicles calling at the three depots for fuel each have a unique number, which is entered into the system via keypads on the Jigsaw Eclipse fuel island terminals. Once successfully       

authorised fueller to replenish the fuel tanks with gas oil via the pumps.


Information from each fuelling is then fed to the Cameron Forecourt’s twin central servers in Manchester, which can be accessed by authorised managers from any PC, laptop or smartphone using any internet browser.


The largest facility is at Crewe, where the installation comprises 11 Jigsaw Eclipse fuel island terminals drawing fuel supplies from four main fuel tanks, each of which is constantly            Cambridge and Tyne Yard feature the same system but with a single fuel island terminal.

Fuel drawings monitored by the Jigsaw Eclipse system can then be reconciled against fuelling from the tanks. Fuelling can take place at any time of day or night. The integrated package allows Arriva TrainCare to keep a constant check on fuel movements, stock levels, and consumption, providing complete and accurate wetstock reconciliation around the clock.
