A quartet of express deliveries
Rail depot equipment specialist Mechan has secured a series of contracts to support the Department for Transport’s flagship Intercity Express Programme (IEP). Managing director, Richard Carr, outlines the projects in more detail.
As
one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of lifting and handling products, we
have been asked to supply four sites that are integral to improvements on the Great Western and East Coast main lines.
The most recent addition is a commission for a three-road equipment drop, 40 jacks and two Rail Europe.
Installation of the equipment will take place in piece in the IEP jigsaw for Mechan. We have equipment drop with two bridges at the North
Pole depot in west London, which was one of readied for the introduction of the new high
Two further standard equipment drops are in production, scheduled for delivery in March and our engineers are working on two bespoke
I had the pleasure of visiting the County how our machines will be used – one inside and one outside – to move vehicles between roads. Both will be installed in the spring.
An extensive and competitive tendering process was undertaken for these two traversers, given their importance to production, and we are have chosen to install our equipment at these key locations.
We have excellent working relationships with both clients, as they recognise the quality, reliability and value our products represent.
Being accepted as a preferred supplier for the IEP has been a huge boost to our order book.
