Viento 320 uncooled camera Sierra-Olympic Technologies has introduced the first in a series of affordable, uncooled microbolometer thermal cameras for industrial, machine vision, and general purpose thermal imaging applications. The Viento 320 features 320 x 240 pixel resolution with a 17µm pixel pitch. Intuitive and easy to integrate into new or existing systems, the uncooled infrared camera has user-selectable NTSC or PAL analogue video and simultaneous 14-bit/8-bit, Camera Link digital video outputs. Viento cameras include standard connector interfaces and standard mechanical interfaces, which are absent in many other low-cost thermal imagers.

The camera is based upon the latest 17µm uncooled focal plane array (FPA) technology. Features include multiple automatic gain control modes, including image contrast enhancement, and an integrated normalisation shutter.

Nine different lens options are available, including 3-, 6-, 9-, 15-, 16-, 24-, 27-, 40-, and 90-degrees horizontal field-of-view. Camera control is via RS-232 or USB. Applications include process monitoring, industrial imaging, robotics guidance, perimeter security, surveillance, unmanned vehicle imaging, traffic management, and more. www.sierraolympic.com

AX8 temperature sensor The new AX8 fixed-mount temperature sensor from Flir Systems combines thermal and visible cameras along with MSX technology in a small, affordable package. The AX8 is easy to install in space-constrained areas for automated and uninterrupted condition monitoring of critical electrical and mechanical equipment. Enabled by Flir’s Lepton thermal imaging core, the AX8 provides early detection of temperature- related issues in electrical and mechanical equipment, guarding against unplanned outages, service interruptions, and equipment failure. The device is the ideal temperature sensor for continuous condition monitoring and fire prevention without the need for periodic manual scans.

The imager has 4,800 active temperature points per image, provides streaming temperature data over industry-standard interfaces (Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP) for easy analysis, has a built-in web interface, and includes a full suite of analysis and alarm functions that automatically send alerts when the AX8 detects elevated temperatures. www.flir.com/ax8
