Agents enjoy MAGn in Manchester and B
Hundreds of travel agents, airlines and operators came together in Bournemouth and Manchester to enjoy the launch of Manchester Airports Group’s MAGnificent Travel Agents competition. The first event took place at Bournemouth’s Norfolk Hotel, with Bournemouth Airport hosting 12 operators and 85 agents from companies including Bath Travel, The Co-operative Travel, Hays Travel, The Advantage Travel Partnership, Thomas Cook and Thomson. Guests enjoyed an educational and fun evening, and
welcomed the announcement that Flybe was adding Bournemouth as a new base with nine new routes: Glasgow, from March 2015, and Amsterdam, Biarritz, Paris CDG, Deauville, Dublin, Jersey, Manchester and Toulon Cote D’Azur from next May.
In addition to meeting operators using the airport, agents also enjoyed food, drinks and a range of travel-related games and simulators, with Thomas Cook’s Kerry Judge drawn as the winner of a £500 cash prize by Bournemouth Airport managing director Paul Knight. In Manchester, guests gathered underneath the wings of
Concorde at Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park for another night of fun and learning. Under the shadow of a genuine Concorde aircraft, more than 300 agents were greeted by the Manchester Airport Choir before taking part in a range of fun activities hosted by more than 50 airlines and tour operators. Fun challenges included Formula 1, ski and snowboard simulators, giant Scalextric and a Dance Kinect game, and all guests had the rare opportunity to board Concorde itself. Meanwhile, flash mobs of dancers kept toes tapping with
dances from around the world ranging from samba and Riverdance to hip-hop, belly dancing, Cossack dancing and even the can-can! Prize winners scooped medals, chocolates and champagne,
and Francesca Woodbridge-Maguire from The Co-operative Travel was the lucky prize-draw winner who was presented with £500 by MAG chief commercial officer Ken O’Toole.
