VOLTAGE OPTIMISATION without capital expenditure


Flexible leasing packages from Powerstar are helping companies to cut energy costs and CO2 emissions without making payments up-front, seeing an ROI of two to three years

oltage optimisation technology has been saving the industry millions of


pounds since the beginning of the millennium by reducing electricity spend, cutting carbon emissions and prolonging the life of electrical equipment. This technology is proven to be one of the three most worthwhile green technologies to implement according to an independent report published by the NHS Sustainable Development Unit and St George’s University. It concluded that voltage optimisation along with LED lighting and variable speed drives provides the highest savings and fastest payback across a range of sites. Voltage optimisation delivers energy savings by addressing the issue of wasted energy that occurs as a result of an imbalance between a building’s incoming electricity supply and its usage. Voltage is generally supplied at a considerably higher level than the optimal 220V at which electrical equipment works best with the average supplied from the National Grid currently 242V. The excess energy is still factored into a building’s energy bills despite the fact that it offers no advantages and can actually be detrimental to equipment. Voltage optimisation technology extends the life of electrical equipment by cleaning the power supply and eliminating potentially damaging spikes in power delivery. UK designed and manufactured voltage optimisation systems from Powerstar have been delivering carbon reductions and guaranteed savings on electricity bills for clients across all sectors for over 13 years. The only voltage optimisation unit in the world to be granted a patent for its design, Powerstar delivers average savings of 12-15% on a variety of loads including LED lighting which most voltage optimisation systems cannot offer. OPERATING LEASES Operating leases are available over a five-year fixed period with significantly lower monthly payments. At the end of the term there will be a 20% residual balance at which point the customer has the option of either purchasing the product at the residual value, returning the unit or re-financing the outstanding balance. Finance leases differ in that the term of the lease is flexible and at the end of the term the customer takes ownership of the unit. Like operating leases payments are monthly and no up- front payment is required. The lease packages can be used to purchase any of the Powerstar voltage optimisation systems that are available. The range includes low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) systems. LV systems are either fixed or electronic-dynamic (variable). A building that has a stable incoming voltage supply which is still over and above the optimum rating for electrical devices requires a fixed voltage
