Louisiana Man Arrested Second Time on Cattle Theft Charges
A Toney Hurley TSCRA Special Ranger
LOUISIANA MAN WAS ARRESTED ON AUG. 18 FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS YEAR IN SALISAW, Okla., and charged with second degree theft of livestock. Texas and South-
western Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Toney Hurley led the investigation. Jacob Thompson, 30, was arrested by TSCRA Special Rangers Kent Dowell and
Bart Perrier on Hurley’s theft of livestock warrant out of Hopkins County, Texas. According to Hurley, the warrant stemmed from Thompson’s purchase of
nearly 200 head of cattle from the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction in Sep- tember 2013, without attempting to make any type of payment for the $159,498 worth of cattle. Hurley said that after Thompson was arrested, he was taken before the dis-
trict judge in Oklahoma and signed a waiver of extradition. Hurley then met Dowell in Oklahoma, took custody of Thompson and transported the suspect to the Hopkins County Jail. Thompson was arraigned and given a $250,000 bond. Thompson was also arrested in June by Hurley and Dowell on 1 count of

A Ben Eggleston TSCRA Special Ranger
Oklahoma Man Arrested on Horse Theft Charges
N OKLAHOMA MAN WAS ARRESTED WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10, AND CHARGED WITH THEFT OF livestock after turning himself in to authorities in Wheeler County, Texas.
TSCRA Special Ranger Ben Eggleston led the investigation. According to Eggleston, the suspect, Rusty Shane Munsell, 43, of Woodward,
Okla., purchased 4 horses with a check from a closed account. Three of the 4 horses were recovered by Eggleston and returned to the rightful owners. Mun- sell was held in custody on a $50,000 bond in Wheeler County. Eggleston said Munsell is also out on bond from a case out of Hemphill
County, Texas, that was investigated earlier this year. According to Eggleston, Munsell had purchased 10 show pigs on a closed account and sold the pigs to youths for their livestock shows. TSCRA would like to thank Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Special Agent
Paul Cornett, Wheeler County Sheriff’s Offi ce Sgt. Ronnie Moore and Wheeler County Sheriff’s Offi ce Deputy John Hankins for their work on these cases. “This is a good example of local law enforcement and TSCRA working hand- in-hand to protect ranchers in Texas and Oklahoma,” said Eggleston.
