TSCRA Cattlewomen Attend Elite Beef Industry Conference
S
ARA LEMOINE KNOX, FIFTH GENERATION RANCHER AND attorney from Fort Worth, April Bonds, opera- tions and markets strategist at Bonds Ranch in
Saginaw, and Kim McCuistion, associate professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, were 3 of more than 60 young cattlemen and women selected to participate in the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association 35th Young Cattlemen’s Conference. These 3 delegates were sponsored by the Texas and
Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA). The YCC program is a comprehensive, nationwide tour of beef industry sectors, created to enhance leadership skills in your beef industry professionals. “YCC is a prestigious and competitive program de-
signed to foster the future leadership of our industry,” said Forrest Roberts, NCBA chief executive offi cer. “The participants selected to attend YCC were chosen because of their exceptional contributions to the beef industry and their potential to be a strong voice in our
future development.” As an attorney, Knox works in oil and gas acquisi-
tions in the Barnett Shale. Born and raised in central west Texas, Knox has worked on her family’s com- mercial cow-calf operation since the age of 4. Knox has also overseen steer operations as well as doing the paper work for a widely diversifi ed ranching operation. Knox received her undergraduate degree from Texas
A&M University, going on to earn her law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law. She believes the fi ght for agriculture lies in property rights and the ever controversial issues of water rights. She has written papers and opinions for legislative water interests in renewing Texas aquifers. Bonds Ranch is a commercial cow-calf, stocker and
feeder cattle business with operations throughout Texas, the U.S. and parts of Canada. Bonds returned to the ranch in July 2013 to work alongside her father, Pete, and sister, Missy, as a part of their family operation.
