October has been a busy and exciting month for ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine. First of all we welcomed a new member to our team. Matthew has embarked on an internship with the company and is being introduced to all aspects involved in the production of a magazine as well as learning a good deal about the products we promote. I have been happy to hand over the social networking to him - it has been rather neglected in the past! He was able to join Peter and myself on several exciting and informative outings and you can now visit our Facebook page to see some of the photos taken on these occasions. So where did we go? First of all we attended the launch of the new Flex Giraffe Sander,

held in the Wing at Silverstone. We were honoured to be invited and had an exciting day culminating in a helicopter ride around the Silverstone circuit – read all about it in the report on pages14 and 15. I did stress to Matthew that this is a fairly rare treat! This was swiftly followed by a visit to the D&M show at Kempton

Racecourse, a chance to meet companies exhibiting and view their range of products. There is also a review of this popular show later in the magazine. The third visit involved a trip to Milton Keynes for the Makita Tool

Testing Day. This was an excellent opportunity to further our understanding of the workings of various tools combined with the opportunity to observe and try out some of Makita’s vast range of products. The report on this visit can be seen on page 20. Peter’s thirst for trying out products has been well served this month. As well as trying out tools on the launch and testing days, he has also written four reviews. You can read about 2 upgraded Coast headtorches, a range of workwear from Progressive Safety, a rucksack from C.K.I and a set of screwdrivers from Wera. Craig has contributed to the Workwear Feature with an article in the Celebrity Column and this month’s Voice of the

industry is piece about growth in the house-building sector from Brian Berry of the Federation of Master Builders. For quick links to find out more information do visit www.toolbusiness.co.uk where as well as reading this issue online you

can also access past editions on the archive page. It always seems a bit early in this edition to talk about the festive season, but as the next magazine will arrive in early

January, this is the only chance to do so! I hope that this proves to be a busy and successful Christmas for all our readers and I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous 2015.
