CK Technician’s Rucksack Plus –

CKI Technicians’ Backpack: Aimed at:- All fitting trades and technicians who need an easy way to transport small pieces of kit on site. Pros:- Comfortable to carry, robust, waterproof base with enough storage for a range of tools including a laptop.

Getting your tools to site safely and easily is a problem that needs to be cracked in order to work efficiently – nothing is worse than constant trips back to the van to collect another piece of forgotten kit. For some workers where the kit is bulky, there may be no option, but for others like electricians and fitters, it is possible to have your most needed kit in a toolbox or bag that is easy to transport. I have to say that I am not the example to follow here – my roller-wheel kit bag

gets reorganised regularly but I sometimes still find myself without a key tool when I need it. However, after a few days of trying out the new C.K Technician’s Rucksack Plus, I came to the realisation that I could be potentially much better organised with the extra capacity that the backpack gave me to carry smaller, easy- to-lose things like bit sets, cutters and pliers separately so that the bigger bag could be freed to carry more bulky stuff. My needs are more generalist, so I still need my big bag, but for technicians, the

C.K Rucksack has the capacity to carry most, if not all of the requirements for most jobs, in my view. And more to the point, it enables the user to carry it comfortably and easily to the job. Time for a closer look. The Rucksack Plus is part of the C.K’s Magma range of

Premium Storage and shows quality from the moment you pick it up. It is not made for lightness because it is not meant for meeting airline luggage weight targets, but it is very robustly made with much evidence of double stitching and reinforced stress points. When zipped up securely, the tools inside the rucksack have very good

protection from the elements. Nothing got wet inside when I had to dash through some of the heavy rain we have had recently. Probably more important for most users is that the hard base of the rucksack is made from 100% waterproof and crackproof polymer. The base extends upwards by about 50mm, so even provides

protection from puddles of water. In my descending order of priorities this means that the rucksack can be stood upright on any flattish surface so that the user can open it up and reach all the tools inside easily. Secondly, the

hard base maintains the shape of the sack so that it does not collapse. Thirdly, we can’t always guarantee the surfaces on which we have to place our tools. They are often muddy, dirty, dusty etc. etc. The hard base effectively isolates the tools from any nasties underfoot, so maintaining the kit in the best condition possible. However, the thoughtful C.K designers have contoured the rear of the base

into a gentle concave curve that fits around the base of the back so that when it is carried in rucksack style, it fits comfortably against the carrier’s back. Security can be important on some sites and anecdotally I have been hearing a

lot more about tool pilfering from tradespeople I speak to these days. The only cure is to keep your kit close and watch it carefully, but to foil opportunists; all the outside zips on this C.K Rucksack can be locked with a mini lock. (also available
