To complete the offering, Parque de la Costa also offers various shows, including Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Clay Face show and the Fuentes de Aguas Danzantes (Fountains of Dancing Water), which is performed on the lake that serves as a central feature to the park. A diverse selection of the latest midway games is offered throughout the park. From April to November, students are encouraged to take part in special games organised under the banner of Parque Match. In most cases these involve test of skill on the park attractions including the Octopus, spinning cups, flying chairs, laser race etc. Visitors compete in teams and a monthly prize is awarded to the winning team. It’s a lot of fun for teenage thrill seekers, and a great money-spinner for the park!

he recently-opened BluPark (blupark.com.uy) in Uruguay’s capital city, Montevideo, provides a wide variety of attractions, from whirling rides that test the vertigo limits, to more “active” pursuits. There is also a kid’s zone, theatre and a food court. The climate in Montevideo is temperate, so as with Parque de la Costa over in Argentina, any time throughout the year is a good time to visit.
