The car’s

the star! Hunderfossen’s first coaster

How’s this for a beautifully-themed rollercoaster ride vehicle? Il Tempo Extra Gigante opened late May at Hunderfossen near Lillehammer, Norway, to mark the park’s 30th anniversary season. From Zierer, the NOK31 million (€3.8m/$5m) attraction is the park’s first coaster. The train is inspired by the car featured in the

Pinchcliffe Grand Prix, Norway’s most popular film, and was designed by Kjeil Austen, one of the country’s best-known cartoonists. In order to create such a large and detailed replica, Hunderfossen surrendered all seating in the first car of the eight-car train by Zierer, leaving space for a total of 14 passengers.

Riders in the front (second) car can even toot a horn as they race around the coaster’s 535m metres of track. Built on a hillside location, the ride offers thrilling views as charges through a layout similar to that produced by Zierer for Schwabenpark’s (Germany) Force One coaster.

The top speed is 65km/h. “We and are guests are very proud of Il Tempo Extra Gigante,” says Hunderfossen general manager Hogne Høstmælingen. And rightly so!
