Goplasticpallets.com was selected as the pallet partner for this major project by HS Marketing Ltd – the primary sourcing agent for Qatar’s largest warehouse equipment company Rumaillah Warehouse Equipment, which was responsible for managing HIA’s warehouse operations.
EXACT SPECIFICATIONS
HS obtained a number of pallet samples from different suppliers, but only Goplasticpallets. com was able to match Rumaillah’s exact specifi cation with its APB 1210 pool perforated pallet on three runners. The fi rst order of 10,000 pool pallets was shipped from the Belgian manufacturing factory in February in 28 hi-cube 40-foot containers over a period of four weeks on Maersk line vessels to Jebel Ali Port in Dubai. From Antwerp, the vessel would have travelled through the channel, across the Bay of Biscay into the Mediterranean, through the Suez Canal dropping into Aqaba, and then onto Dubai. From Dubai, the pallets were transhipped to another vessel for onward shipment to Qatar before arriving in the Port of Doha.
Upon arrival, the containers were taken by truck to HIA’s 9,000 sq m cargo warehouse, where the pallets were offl oaded and stored using fork lifts.
The pallets are now being used to transport duty-free goods arriving from

all over the world by sea and air from the cargo warehouse to the airport’s duty-free warehouse, where products are barcoded and stored in 11-575-bay racking systems until they are required for display. When goods are required, they are located and retrieved from the racking using AGVs and transported on hand pallet trucks to the airport’s goods receiving section, where they are depalletised and the pallets are returned to the warehouse for reuse.
