TSCRA Celebrates Friends, Family and Ranching Heritage

By Claudia Wright, chair, Association Promotion Committee

B

Y THE TIME YOU READ THIS COLUMN IT WILL BE AROUND July 4. When I think of July 4, a few things come to mind — celebrating with family and

friends, enjoying beef and refl ecting on our country’s founding. TSCRA membership events are a lot like July 4. We,

too, celebrate and rekindle relationships with family and friends. If you have tasted the fantastic meals at a ranch gathering you know we like to enjoy beef. And, we refl ect on our industry and what TSCRA does to help improve and secure the business climate in which we operate. Another TSCRA event to celebrate is the series of ranch rodeos taking place this year. The fi rst rodeo

in February was a wild success with 24 teams and 2 days of fun. The next rodeo is taking place July 19 at the Mallet Events Center in Levelland. Ten teams will compete for some great prizes. The last rodeo for 2014 will take place Oct. 10 in Bastrop and will feature an additional 10 teams competing for the fi nal bragging rights of the year. I’d like to invite all TSCRA members to come out

and attend these rodeos. The events are family-friendly and very entertaining. There is simply no better way to celebrate ranching’s heritage. I hope everyone spends their July 4 barbequing beef,

enjoying friends and family and, it is hoped, enjoying the smell and sounds of a gentle rain.
